Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

If the key doesn't connect after the upgrade you may need to "remove and disable cloud access" and then re-configure cloud access.  Of all our controllers we had one that sat at connecting and that's what we ended up doing that worked.

Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

I upgraded UCK from .6 to .12 with no problem.  I realized that I would be getting a higher version of Unifi Controller than some of my older APs (unifi ap-ac) would support.   Sure enough, the newest controller version is incompatable with the older APs as expected.  So I proceed to follow remaining instrucitons which say next to "purge unifi, install the previous version using the .deb file, then restore your controller backup during the setup wizard."

I know how to do the steps above except I do Not know how to "purge unifi"      Can I please get instructions on how to "purge unfi"?

thanks.

Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

When can we expect to have the issues fixed with low-contrast text vs. background colors?

I would like to upgrade my CK, but not until I'll be able to see the screens well.

Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

Hi all,

I rolled out the upgrade to a small 5 AP / 3x SSID network the other day. It was reported after the update that some guests could not get on the "guest WiFi" which has a AUP page. I did see in Events that some clients were connected.

Any idea what is going on? Did the update wipe authorizations and put clients into a "limbo" mode? Or do I need to manually wipe guest authorizations to force clients to re-accept the AUP?

I didn't see any indication of clients failing to connect, but I don't know what to look for to identify that.

Is there a better way to troubleshoot customer reports that people "can't connect"? Personally, when I have problems with free WiFi in public spaces, where I am not redirected to a AUP page, it seems that MOST hotspot systems can be forced by going to 1.1.1.1 in the browser to either redirect to the AUP page or logout of an existing session. Can anyone provide insight as to how 1.1.1.1 came to be (before CloudFlare), who uses it, and why it works to "fix" WiFi sessions?

HATE the upgrade! I can't log into my cloudkey half the time it's just missing from the cloud portal.

Port 8883 must be opened in firewalls for the cloudkey to register properly.

No ports are needed open inbound for Cloud Access to work.

I don't have 8883 open in or out, and my CK works perfectly with Cloud Access.

According to Ubiquiti support port 8883 must be open for communication.

"Stanley S" is talking complete crap & clearly needs retraining - either that or you were asking him an entirely different question.

There is NO requirement to open/forward any ports for the UC-CK to be accessible via unifi.ubnt.com.

Direct access to the UC-CK via IP address/FQDN will require ports opened but that is not the default mode of "cloud" operation.

Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

I have several controllers with 5.9.29 that showed as offline in unifi.ubnt.com and in the controllers "Cloud Access" was stuck on "Connecting". After opening port 8883 for communication it connects. So either Stanley S is talking crap, or knows what he talks about.

My CK is running controller 5.8.30 without 8883 open at all...not inbound, and not outbound. Maybe it's a requirement for 5.9.x?

EDIT: If unifi.ubnt.com Cloud Access is going to require 8883 open inbound with 5.9.x and higher, then it defeats the whole purpose of using it, that is, access to the controller without having to open inbound ports.

"After opening port 8883 for communication it connects."

Do you mean 8883 inbound port forwarded to your controller? That is not good.

Port 8883 outbound is no big deal, but not needed on 5.8.30.

Hello @greggmh123,

For controller 5.9.x and up:

Ports 443/tcp, 443/udp, 3478/udp, 8883/tcp are needed for UniFi Cloud access.
