Hello guys!
I wrote some scritps that will install/Update the UniFi Controller software on your Ubuntu/Debian machines. These scripts were tested on Ubuntu 16.04/18.04/18.10 and Debian 8/9. If you find any issues while using my scripts please let me know!
Information about the UniFi Controller Versions.
I recommend using server with atleast 2 GB of RAM.
Regards,
Glenn R.

Instructions:
1) Copy the link location of the script.
2) SSH into your Ubuntu/Debian machine, and login as root. ( Ubuntu | sudo -i | Debian | su )
2a) Make sure the ca-certificates package is installed.
apt-get install ca-certificates -y
3) Execute the following commands to download the script. (change it to your wanted version)
wget https://get.glennr.nl/unifi/5.9.29/U1604/unifi-5.9.29.sh; chmod +x unifi-5.9.29.sh
4) After you downloaded the script and made it executable you need to run it, by executing the following command.
./unifi-5.9.29.sh
5) Once the installation is completed browse to your controller.

- Between 5.7.23 and 5.6.37 the only difference is the hard coded controller version number.

Thanks a lot for these, they worked almost flawlessly where other guides have not
The only change i had to make was right at the end - i'd already had a newer version of unifi unifi installed, which it wanted to downgrade, but couldn't because you'd used the -y variable. Ran the last 3-4 lines manually, and its all up and working now

Hello @Schermauer,
This error occurs because you are running MongoDB v3.6.x and the script wants to install 3.4.x
If you already had a controller running make sure you create a backup!
Execute the following commands and run the script again.
sudo apt purge mongodb
sudo apt autoremove

This worked very well, thanks!
For some reason though - not sure if this is a temporary issue with MongoDB - the wrong key for the MongoDB repo was being fetched. This meant it wasn't able to update the MongoDB repo and the script would terminate.
I added the key manually:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv BC711F9BA15703C6
Which was found here: https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/verify-mongodb-packages/
Then the script worked okay.
I get the impression this is something on their end i.e. they haven't updated the key in the location specified here in the script:
wget -qO- https://www.mongodb.org/static/pgp/server-${mongodb}.asc | sudo apt-key addI'm fairly green with Linux stuff, but this was how I worked around it.
Thanks again for putting together the installation script!

Hi I used your script but still not being able to install the unifi controller.
I am running into the following issue:
You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mongodb-org : Depends: mongodb-org-server but it is not installed
Depends: mongodb-org-mongos but it is not installed
Depends: mongodb-org-tools but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
########################################
# An error occurred. Aborting script.. #
I tried the following but it didnt help. I am running 18.04.LTS
sudo apt purge mongodb
sudo apt autoremove
can you help?
Thank you

thank you for the quick reply, unfortunately the company policies do not allow the use of such applications.
Could you give me some hints, what I can try to solve the issue?
thank you

Hello,
Seems like you already had mongodb 3.6.x installed.
Try the following commands.
sudo service mongod stop sudo apt-get purge mongodb-org* sudo rm -r /var/log/mongodb sudo rm -r /var/lib/mongodb
