Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

[ Edited ]

I have an issue with the guest portal and this controller version. I can edit the values in the guest portal, but they aren't saved. When I hit the save button it seems the changed values are stored but going to another menu point of the settings e.g. Profiles and coming back to guest portal then all old values appear again. So, it's like a write protection. This only appears in the guest portal section; all other menus work correct.

Does anyone else have this behavior or can replicate this?

Thanks

Device: UAP-AC-Pro-Gen2 with firmware 4.0.21.9965

Hello @sstuetzel,

Are you seeing any errors in the controller logs?

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

[ Edited ]

I updated to Java 8 (1.8.0_201) on my Raspberry Pi 3B with Raspbian (full) installed using SmokingCrop's directions (the few lines of commands in the gray box in his/her post). After that, I updated the UniFi controller from 5.9.29 to 5.10.12 using

sudo apt update

sudo apt upgrade

I also have Pi-Hole running on the same Raspberry Pi.

All went well with the installation/update. The controller is now updated and Pi-Hole is unaffected (as it should be).

Thanks Glenn R, SmokingCrop and others posting Man Happy

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Glad I found this thread eventually about the RPi issues upgrading pointing to the version of Java as the cause.  But I'm kinda surprised at some of the instructions pulling down from a the non-default raspbian repository or fetching specific java packages.

All I did with my RPi 3 to fetch the current Java 8 version was pull down the defaults (original command below) and then it should update with everything else in the Raspbian repo:

sudo apt-get install default-jdk default-jre;

Just don't have another version of Java (JRE/JDK) installed, as I don't know how Unifi selects which version to use.

Which currently provides the following version:

raspberrypi:~# java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_181"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_181-8u181-b13-2~deb9u1-b13)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 25.181-b13, mixed mode)

Based on this version of Raspbian:

raspberrypi:~# cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)"
NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="9"
VERSION="9 (stretch)"
ID=raspbian
ID_LIKE=debian
HOME_URL="http://www.raspbian.org/"
SUPPORT_URL="http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianForums"
BUG_REPORT_URL="http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianBugs"

After that was done, just update the Unifi package and it seems to load without issue according to server.log

[13:24:47,293] <launcher> INFO  system - ======================================================================
[13:24:47,340] <launcher> INFO  system - UniFi 5.10.12 (build atag_5.10.12_11629 - release) is started
[13:24:47,341] <launcher> INFO  system - ======================================================================

I have no other repos configured than the default Raspbian and the Unifi one.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Hi @AmazedMender16 ,

no not really. I can see one exception in the controller log for the whole day: [19:26:46,950] <webapi-445> ERROR [ApiServlet] - Servlet.service() for servlet [ApiServlet] in context with path [] threw exception

But this event was far away from the time I played with those guest portal settings. All other entries are inform messages.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

@IamTHEvilONE I think it is a matter of the Oracle Java version (the instructions by others you saw) as opposed to the open version of Java (your instructions).

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Upgraded on my RPI3 this morning and now the controller is inaccessible unless I manually execute the following

/usr/bin/java -jar /usr/lib/unifi/lib/ace.jar start

If I manually run the above the WebUI is accessible as normal.

pi@ubnt-ctrlr:~ $ java -version

java version "1.8.0_201"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_201-b09)

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.201-b09, mixed mode)

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

We're seeing a lot of wireless devices show a 0% Wi-Fi experience score. Most of them appear to be IoT devices (thermostats, etc.). Is there a way to exclude these from the Wi-Fi Experience rating?
