"• As of 5.7.x+ we only support Java 8. At this time Java 9+ is not supported."

You'll want to install the latest version of java 8. The default version available on Raspbian isn't new enough, so you have to add a newer one.

sudo apt-get install dirmngr -y
sudo apt-key adv --recv-key --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com EEA14886
echo 'deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu trusty main' | sudo tee --append /etc/apt/sources.list
echo 'deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu trusty main' | sudo tee --append /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer -y

Hi

After upgrading my Pi2 running Stretch lite with the following command

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade

The controller is not reachable with https://ip:8443 ?

However the Pi is responding with CLI.

Then I did a clean install using this guide

https://www.technologist.site/2016/06/02/how-to-install-ubiquiti-unifi-controller-5-on-the-raspberry...

But I still hit the same wall, when trying to access controller in a webbrowser.

Who can help a lost beginner? Confused5

Same as above, you'll want to install the newest Java 8 version that is not available with a simple apt-get update/upgrade on Raspbian. See commands above or tutorial below.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Following instructions on the web for uninstalling Open Java, and installing Oracle Java on RPi. Very easy.

Here is current setup

pi:~ $ java -version
java version "1.8.0_201"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_201-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.201-b09, mixed mode)

Hi  @alice765 ,

I apologize, most of my message got deleted and I didn’t noticed.  In fact, the question was directed to you :-)

I read you have a RPi and upgraded Java successfully.  I’ve upgraded Java but haven’t upgraded the controller version.  If I understood correctly the release notes mentioned to use a different upgrade command rather than apt-get update/upgrade so I want to make sure what command was used successfully.

Thanks,

Marcel

I have to confess I used the standard

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I do it regularly and it picked up the new release that way.

Then noticed the JAVA issue, fixed that, and all back to normal.

(Also upgraded Home Assistant on the same RPi and that is all working just fine as well)

Awesome!  I guess I’ll try it then.  Good to know HA is working as well.  Unifi Controller co-exists with Pi-Hole & OpenVPN Server withing the same Pi so I’ve been very cautious, so far so good (knocking on wood).  Thank you @alice765

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Upgraded Cloudkey firmware and Controller to latest version on UCK. Upgrade went smooth and no apparent issues. Like that I can now see the controller logs. Wi-Fi Experience score is a nice addition and love the dark theme. Have not tried the new Automatic Network Optimization yet as want to wait to see how things run before changing any settings.
