Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.23 Stable has been released

Hello @Ripv,

You're already on 5.10.17... so 5.10.23 also supports your model....

Take a look at the blog post and see the available firmware for each model, your UAP/USG/USW model is supported if it's listed there.

Glenn R.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.23 Stable has been released

Hi, i've the same problem. Installed today 5.10.23 version and configured captive portal with security gateway , update all at the correct version but the captive portal not works. It not load anything.
I don't have certificate or https redirect and redirect with hostname is empty and not checkd.

Not load anything with pc or smartphone connected to guest client but i've insert in pre-autorization field the ip of the controller.

So what i've to do for working ?

Same issue here, stopped getting email alerts, no changes to SMTP settings. Disabled SSL and test email went through.

We've released security advisories 003 and 004 which detail the vulnerability fixed in 5.10.23. It's worth mentioning that 003 is new, whereas 004 was fixed in 5.10.12. I'll be updating the relevant blog posts for recent releases.

Cheers,

Mike

UPDATE: SOLVED!  It was Java.  Raspbian was using 8 u65.  Installed newest and the web page came up.

Upgraded from 5.6.40 and now I cannot browse to my IP.  Tried reboot and restart of service, no change.  Upgraded manually and had no errors.

Any ideas?

Edit to include unifi service status:

Hey @AmazedMender16 I too am interested in how to get around the Oracle Java requirement at installation on Windows. Can you advise?

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.23 Stable has been released

Hello @f1admin,

Just tested it on a fresh Windows Server 2019 Datacenter.

All you have to do is install Amazon Corretto 8 and UniFi 5.10.23

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.23 Stable has been released

I am managing 250 cloud based UniFi servers now, currently on 5.10.21, but have been testing 5.10.23 on several.

I ran into 2 bugs on multiple servers which others mentioned as well:

1. Captive Portal redirect not working

2. SMTP port 587 not working, although switching to 465 fixes it

I hope you can fix this in the next release. Number 1 is a big problem.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.23 Stable has been released

I've been seeing random crashes of the app since upgrading. I'm running it on Mac with Mojave 10.14.5. Prior version ran fine.

Not seeing any issues on a mini running Mojave 10.14.5. What else is running on that system?

Nothing unusual. Previous versions of the controller software never crashed on me.

Switching to port 465 in order to mitigate a SMTP vulnerability isn't an option for most people UBNT as the port was deprecated before many of your users were born.

Well spotted @HostiFi

Actually port 587 is still allowed and functional. The difference is that STARTTLS is now default enabled and required. Also self-signed certificates aren't accepted by default. There technically are manual overries but nothing exposed in the UI at this time.

Certainly interested to hear feedback on those changes.

Cheers,

Mike

Well you've broken it then as it doesn't work with ionos.co.uk (largest hosting company in Europe). Its been working fine (using STARTTLS) for years until your mitigations for the SMTP MITM vuln. STARTTLS works fine with multiple other clients, just not your controller.

Fortunately for me they accept SSL SMTP on port 465 which you haven't (yet) broken.
