Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

@jonesmz, I agree, there are some bad aspects to the UI redesign. Bad color scheme, and bad way of interacting with multi-screen widgets in particular.

Sure, it may not sound like much, but it very much makes for a worse impression than a well-designed UI would. And when you're going from a good color scheme in the previous release to one that's worse you just can't help but dislike it every time you have to look at it. I have provided feedback about this during beta, but unfortunately it did not get addressed.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

Good Day.

We upgraded our controller yesterday from 5.8.28 -> 5.9.29.

We noticed that ap's which had set-inform's  done to our controller hostname instead of our controller IP, were suddenly all disconnected.

We received tons of the following on the server log:

[2018-10-08 22:29:10,303] <inform-47> ERROR inform - dev[fc:ec:da:a6:c4:9c] invalid inform_ip unifi
[2018-10-08 22:29:10,303] <inform-47> ERROR inform - Inform Invalid for Device[10.16.100.135:58569], Invalid
[2018-10-08 22:29:10,330] <inform-135> INFO inform - from [fc:ec:da:34:87:2e]("ourclientAP", U7LR, 3.9.42.9152): state=UNKNOWN, last_inform=15, ext/stun_ip=10.16.100.135, dev_ip=10.255.5.253, up=1586286

We then rolled back to 5.8.28and everything was fine again. Does anyone know what the issue might be and how to fix this?

Kind Regards,

Adam

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

is 5.9.29 now the recomended path from 5.8.30?

I noticed the 5.8 threads have disappeared now.

When I go to Manage Dashboards, clicking 'Export' does not work using the cloud portal (unifi.ubnt.com). It works fine when I connect directly to the cloudkey.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

The dashboard is very hard to read at a glance and it favors wireless clients only without any indication of wired clients and the integrated latency and throughput graphs are not very useful or readable. I prefer the at-a-glance layout of the old Unifi Controller.

However, I do like the customizeable dashboards and I think that is a step in the right direction.

Get excited so I upgraded. Open the dashboard. Get retinas burned out.

I went to check settings to make sure dark mode is still enabled... it is and dashboard is still whiter than me after 15 whiskeys trying to dance.

I agree, the colour scheme is a downgrade from the pervious 5.8 build.

Hello @adamx77,

Could you upgrade your devices to 3.9.54, 3.9.42 has some DNS issues.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

Is there a way to have the Internet Download, Upload, and Latency gauges/info show in this new version?  It shows on the iOS app version but not on the web version.

Select the + to the right of "WiFi Metrics".  Name and save the new dashboard.  Customize as needed.

Edit____________________

You can also hover over "ISP Load:" above the throughput graph, top left of screen.  You can also run a speed test from there.

That helped quite a bit.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a widget which shows a quick summary at all times for Download, Upload, and Latency.  I like seeing the graphs as seen below but it would also be nice to see a quick text summary of them all like before.  Also the graph lines don't show up in Safari.  When I switched fo Firefox, it shows fine.Screen Shot 2018-10-09 at 11.23.05 AM.png

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

@Olivier67

What Philips TV model do you own? In my case it's a Philips 55PFL6007K/12.

And I also use the API documented here to query the Ambilight status and sync it with my Hue lamps with the API here.

However the TV crash occurs regardless of whether the sync is active or not.

I have not the faintest idea what could causing it. I already tried blocking all the relevant Philips domain names with my Pihole, and I also tried to firewall TCP and UDP from the TV away. But still, the crashes occur every one or two minutes (didn't time it exactly).

I couldn't agree with your more. I have vision problems and the top and side borders are almost unreadable fro me. This is a step backwards in my opinion.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

My TV is Philips 55PFL8007K/12.

I use the Hambisync tools (found Here) to sync Hue lights with the TV Ambilight. It uses the SAME API you describe. The TV is connected by LAN cable to a Unifi 8 ports Switch. This switch is connected to the main Unifi 48 ports switch.

I have disabled the Hambisync services but the TV still crashes every 2 minutes. It is clearly linked to some traffic that started immediately after the upgrade of the controller to 5.9.29. As mentioned, the firwmare of my APs, Switches and USG were already at latest stable release, therefore they did not change after the controller upgrade. The issue is clearly linked to the controller, not the firmware of the devices.

I have confirmed that by setting the LAN port profile to Disabled for the switch port where the TV is connected, the problem goes away, the TV does not reboot anymore. I have tried setting port isolation with profile LAN but this does not help.

I have tried to trace the network traffic to the TV Lan port (WireShark), and I think the issue is linked to SSDP traffic sent to TV. This is linked to the uPnp protocol. I can see several SSDP frames, both Unicast and Multicast being sent to the TV right before it crashes. I suspect this could be the issue.

@ubnt-Team, was there any change regarding SSDP in the 5.9.29 controller?

Is there anything I can help with to try to get the root cause of the issue and have a potential fix for it?

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

The top dashboard has a total wifi clients icon and #, but how do I make this reflect total clients (maybe split between wifi and wired)? The old dashboard used to show this.

Hello @jfruehe,

You can see the wired clients when hovering over switches

Yes, I was hoping for a more holistic approach. This seems to be very wifi centric.

I just changed to 5.9.29. It seems all is working, but at the map the AP now shows a greater 5G as 2G Coverage. I think the Coverage information is not very important, but it should at least provide a realistic fake.
