Unifi AP Pro fails snmp after upgrading to 3.9.27.8537

Some time after the upgrade to 5.8.24 and the UAP-Pro to 3.9.27.8537, I noticed that all my UAP Pro devices cannot be monitored via SNMP v1/v2c.

I have some UAP-AC-Pros that are connected to the same controller, and do not have that issue. SNMP is enabled on the controller.

Further digging revealed that the snmpd daemon is running on all the devices, the output everywhere looks similar to this:

uap-pro-BZ.v3.9.27# ps w | grep snmpd
 1304 someuser 8684 S /usr/sbin/snmpd -C -c /etc/snmp.conf -f -LS 0-4 d -Lf /dev/null -p /var/run/snmpd.pid
 1817 someuser 1640 S grep snmpd

The content of /etc/snmp.conf is the same (without the model) across the devices:

load 8.0 8.0 8.0
sysDescr UAP-Pro 3.9.27.8537
sysservices 79
rocommunity publicc
agentaddress udp:161,tcp:161

However, listener on UDP port 161 is created only on the UAP-AC-Pro, and not on the UAP-Pro. Here:

UAP-AC-Pro:

uap-ac-pro-BZ.v3.9.42# netstat -au
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10001 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:48000 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:snmp 0.0.0.0:*

UAP-Pro:

uap-pro-BZ.v3.9.27# netstat -au
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:48000 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10001 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:58555 0.0.0.0:*
netstat: no kernel support for AF INET6 (udp)

What I tried so far without result:

- changing the snmp community name

- disabling/enabling SNMP

- rebooting

I have other controllers and sites with UAP-AC-Pros and UAP-AC-Ms, no problem there.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour on UAP-Pro?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Unifi AP Pro fails snmp after upgrading to 3.9.27.8537

I've now got the same thing happening to the one UAP-Pro I still have.  UAP-AC-Pros are working just fine.

This is after updating everything this morning:

Controller 5.9.29

UAP-Pro 4.0.10.9653

No configuration changes were made.  I can snmpwalk the AC-Pro at the location without issue, the non-AC Pro fails.  I've rebooted it and reprovisioned it several times via the controller.

Re: Unifi AP Pro fails snmp after upgrading to 3.9.27.8537

The Unifi SNMP OID's maps changed.
In my opinion, this was a wise choice, to correct the SNMP tables to follow the Standards.
If you using Zabbix, I start do develop a template to collect that informations.

I post in the zabbix share too.

Happy New Year!

You can see at this image that all information is correctly colected.

This doesn't seem to be an OID/MIB issue - the device is not responing to an snmpwalk at all.

[ Edited ]

I suffered this for months, and no end of Release or Beta AP firmware fixed it until the 4.0.10.9653 release, when a release of the UAP-Pro firmware was made available which brought it in line with the G2/G3 code base.

If you are OK with Beta firmware you can get it from here:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless-Beta/UAP-OD-UAP-Pro-UAP-InWall-UAPv2-New-Base-Platform-...

Else I guess you'll have to wait for the Beta to go through the release cycle before you get SNMP working again.

Re: Unifi AP Pro fails snmp after upgrading to 3.9.27.8537

Thanks,

I have 4.0.17.9910 back running on the one AP-Pro I still have in production, I may give the newer "20" version a try in the next few days.

Re: Unifi AP Pro fails snmp after upgrading to 3.9.27.8537

Hi,

Although my devices are UAP v2, i had a similar problem than the one reported here, so i tested the firmware 4.0.21.9965 and SNMP is working now.

Thanks.
