Hello @iamazue,

Go to your controller and adopt the unit.

What is the LED color of the UAP?

You can also upgrade the UAP via SSH with the following command

upgrade https://dl.ubnt.com/unifi/firmware/U7PG2/3.9.54.9373/BZ.qca956x.v3.9.54.9373.180914.0009.bin

Only use this commands for the following UAPs: UAP-AC-Lite/LR/Pro/EDU/M/M-PRO/IW/IW-Pro

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hello @iamazue,

You're welcome Man Happy

I recommend the following Radio Settings ( leave the 5GHz radio set to AUTO on the wireless uplinks UAPs )

Devices > UAP > Config > Radios

2.4 GHz
Channel width: HT20
Chanel: 1/6/11 | Choose one of these channels, a RF scan will help you choose the most clean one.
Transmit Power: Low ( Medium )

5GHz
Channel width: VHT40 | Optional VHT80/VHT160 might decrease wireless stability
Chanel: 36/44 | Optional (149/157) Choose one of these channels, a RF scan will help you choose the most clean one. Avoid using DFS Channels
Transmit Power: Medium ( High )

Glenn R.

Hey! Happy new year!

Still grateful for your help the other day. However, above is the screen for today as i resumed. Is there something i need to do to get the devices seen online? They are actually working at their respective points.

Hello @iamazue,

Does your controller device have a static IP?

Did your controller IP change?

Did you turn on the firewall?

SSH into the UAPs and set-inform to the controller ( set a static ip on your controller device )

set-inform http://ip.of.the.controller:8080/inform

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hi @AmazedMender16

Yes my firewall was on. The controller device is not on static IP and yes the IP changes. However, i was able to get them all online after disabling the firewall. I will need help on the following:

1. How to allow the controller throught the firewall (currently using AVG Antivirus)

2. i applied all the settings to the radio on all UAP but i discovered that the signal dropped drastically.

3. is there any need leaving the 5G on. if so, is it possible to give the 5G band a different SSID and make it hidden for admin purposes only?

4. All the UAPs are indicdating that there is an upgrade to the firmware. can i upgrade all?

See screenshots for your view:

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hello @iamazue,

1) Allow port 8080 in your firewall

2) You can try 2.4GHz MEDIUM and 5GHz HIGH

3) Why would you want to turn off 5GHz? Why would you want to seperate the channels? The clients will connect to the strongest signal.

4) You can upgrade them, would recommend starting with the wireless uplinked ones.

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hi @AmazedMender16

Thank you for the fedback. So far, i have activated the 5G band as recommended. However, its still not certain how to allow port 8080 through AVG. I have checked online but the solutions profered couldn't allwo the port to be registered. Will it matter if i upgrade all UAPs whether they are uplinked or not?

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hello @iamazue,

I recommend updating the wireless uplinked ones before the wired ones.

So first wireless uplinked ones, once they are back do the wired ones.

Take a look at this for AVG

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hi @AmazedMender16

I think am a bit confused with the status of the UAPs. All UAPs are connected wired but some still shows connected(wireless) and some just showing connected. Pease throw more light on it or is it something i can just ignore?

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hello @iamazue,

The wireless ones are wireless uplinked.

Are the all wired into a switch that is wired into the router/gateway?

Re: Unifi Initial Setup

Hi @AmazedMender16

It wasn't the cables. I figured out that the changes made on the controller jamed the system or something. I had to go to each device and repunch the cables on the module used to join the cables. I actually resetted just two devices but the last one wasn't resetted. Just repunched the cables on the module and that was it.
