Re: VLAN Tagging Issues

Hi All,

Any idea when this issue will be fixed?

Setup:

Management VLAN: 10
Wifi VLAN: 20

Switch...
Port 1: Controller, VLAN 10 Untagged.
Port 2: Wifi Gateway & DHCP, VLAN 20 Untagged.
Port 3: AP 1, VLAN 20 Tagged, VLAN 10 Untagged
Port 4: AP 2, VLAN 20 Tagged, VLAN 10 Untagged
Port 5: AP 3, VLAN 20 Tagged, VLAN 10 Untagged

WIFI Network Setup on VLAN 20.

Cannot communicate outside the AP.

Re: VLAN Tagging Issues

The way it -SHOULD- be configured is that the ethernet port becomes a member of the bridge, then the tagged interface for each vlan should be on the bridge it's self, not on the ethernet port.

ie:
brctl addbr br0
brctl addif br0 eth0
vconfig add br0 100
ifconfig br0.100 x.x.x.x netmask 255.255.255.0
this would properly configure a functional vlan interface on vlan 100 (tested on my unifi device).

The VLANs are supposed to be on the actual interface, NOT the bridge.
vconfig add eth0 100
brctl addbr admin
brctl addif admin eth0.100
brctl addif admin ath2
and you can add an IP to bridge admin if you need. This will bridge untagged traffic coming in on ath2 with VLAN 100...and send untagged frames out ath2 while sending tagged frames out eth0.100.

Re: VLAN Tagging Issues

SO, do I understand this correctly that if I do the following on both ends of the wireless

vconfig add eth0 3
vconfig add eth0 5
vconfig add eth0 42
ifconfig eth0.3 up
ifconfig eth0.5 up
ifconfig eth0.42 up
brctl addif br0 eth0.3
brctl addif br0 eth0.5
brctl addif br0 eth0.42

this will trunk VLANs 3,5, and 42 (and the native VLAN) across the wireless and behave just like a wire with tagged VLANs?
