unable to reduce database size

Hoping for some help here.

Our AC2 database has gotten too big and I need to reduce the size.  The available tool is throwing java errors and thus not working so I am trying to do it directly through PgAdmin instead.

I have deleted 80% of our rows and have successfully run vacuum on both individual tables and the database as a whole but when I look at disk space / database folder size through windows explorer the size remains the same.

I have upgraded PgAdmin to the latest version and we're currently running version v2.1.1-beta-180525-1045

any input would be appreciated.

Re: unable to reduce database size

Check postgreSQL FAQs to reduce DB file sizes after manual vacuum.

btw: about which size you're talking?

Re: unable to reduce database size

Isn't the vacuum what actually reduces the size? I cannot find a reference to needing to do anything else.

DB itself is currently at 55GB. AC2 logs is at 22GB.

Re: unable to reduce database size

I would recommend a 'full vacuum' after AC2 service is stopped.
(just create a DB backup somewhere else [2nd HDD etc.] for worst case)

basic howtos:
