Can AirCube AC be powered through PoE 802.3af ?

Hi all,

A new AirCube AC and first time Ubiquiti user here, so please bear with me if the answer to my question is obvious.
I have tried to search through the forum and also online documents but I could not find anything definitive.

I am using AirCube AC as a wireless AP in home settings, and at the moment I am using the supplied PSU.
I am thinking to buy a small switch with PoE, but it's an old switch so it only supports 802.3af.

Can anyone confirm whether I can power the AirCube AC with 802.3af?

Thank you in advance!

Aircube AC accepts 24V passive POE in on Port one.

You could power this from an 802.3af POE switch, if you use an adapter inline:

I would not expect that the POE output on the WAN port would work in this configuration, though; not enough power.

Ahh ok, I was hoping to power up the aircube without any additional adapter.

Will a newer PoE switch be able to power the AirCube without any adapter?

If anyone can recommend a few small gigabit switch which can do so I will be very grateful.

US-8-150W does both 802.3af/at and 24V Passive POE. That would power the Aircube AC (when set to 24V Passive POE on that port).

EdgeSwitch XP can output 24V but is not IEEE 802.3af compatible.  The 5-port version retails for about $105.

Be advised, EdgeSwitch XPs can have throughput issues if you mix 1G and 100M devices on the switch.
