Wishes for AirCube's

[ Edited ]

Hey guys,

i want to change a couple of old OpenWrt Routers but the simplest options are not avalibe at this time on the AirCube ISP i got for testing here.

-> Multi SSID with different names / Security / VLANs

-> Simplest firewall configuration like blocking some outgoing networks or laying a route to another host

-> Meshing is not avalible for me / The AC version already could ?

-> Multiple VLAN config also

-> Cant put a pppoe connection in a vlan

-> With latest RC i cant connect via UNMS on android phone

Are some of this "features" planned ? Maybe in an expert mode for example to keep the config simple.

Many regards,

Snot

@Snotmann,

-> Multi SSID support is on our roadmap. Management VLAN is already supported in fw v.2.1.0-RC2. Final v2.1.0 is coming out later today.

-> We will consider adding firewall configuration

-> Meshing is available only on AC model, since it has two radios

-> Multiple VLAN port based support is planned on our next coming releases

-> Can you be more specific about pppoe in a vlan? Have tried latest possible fw v.2.1.0-RC2?

I got a link witch is vlan 222 tagged to me. So if i want to do pppoe here i have to tag the vlan on the aircube wan interface as well.

Because the mesh ... its not possible to use the device as "repeater" for example ? This would be very helpful as it runs on 5V i could put it outside with a battery bank for example if im out Man Happy

What about a log about logins, connected devices via lan or missed logins per wifi ?

I'm not entirely clear what the details are on meshing, but it would be very, very useful to be able to connect an airCube ISP as a WiFi client to another airCube (or even a UniFi AP) to create a 'remote Ethernet node'.  Think entertainment centers, offices, and older hardware which does not support WPA2.

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

Hopefully this VLAN support will enable triple-play (seperate VLAN for m'cast IPTV), as I currently have to drop in an ER-X between the uFiber ONU and the ACB.

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

@mWare, that is what we are trying to achieve with VLAN port based support.

Beauty.

Otherwise you'd have to hustle up with a multiport ONT/ONU!

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

why you dont use the web interface from the AirMax AC devices ?! This would make all your devices more comfotable and make users buy the devices from you if they got knowlegde about it

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

+1 for firewall. Using them in my test clients in router mode and i use grandstream DP750 Dect Handsets to provide VOIP numbers to residential. id like to 1:1 NAT the managment ports gor the DP750s for remote tech support and firmware updates but i cant connect from the opther side of the AC. not a huge deal. we dont really have problmes with them but its nice to have. i imagine if i get any customers who are gaming they may need ports opened up

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

We're trying to target the airCube's feature set for its specific use case rather than applying the airMAX UI to it. It'll improve over time but I don't see them becoming the same look and feel.

@sammyr sad, but AFAIK this is not possible with 24V Poe Passthrough.
(the 48V POE are totally different chips)
