What level of port forwarding do you need?

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

I would say the basic/typical, ie

destination port (assume to WAN address), internal host, internal port, protocol(s)

so translations:

2244 >  TCP 192.168.1.10:22

as well as direct NAT:

5000-5010 > UDP 192.168.1.20   (implied 5000 > 5000, 5001>5001 etc)

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

The same as the Air router.

Port Forwarding in them works great!

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

By web server do you mean a web UI to manage the device?

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

IPv6. at least as good as a $49 Asus router (which has better or equal specs in all areas except POE)

Port forwarding

USB for external storage (supported in software)

Some form of parental control.

Priced in the $40 range

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

IPv6 and port forwarding are coming; there are no current plans for USB support or parental control.

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

I only point to places the team can look to see and verify the possible need. It is important that they understand that the bar is being set, both price and performance by the market and there are many players with credible products in this space. My wish for AirCube is for it to be a success.

AirCube is NOT BETA. It is being sold as a released product with fully released software.

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

  • Need to make sure it passes GRE packets for mobile IPSec users - I haven't checked
  • hard code DHCP assignments (this is super useful for printers)
  • If you have a VOIP ALG - have the option to turn it off
  • NAT on the WAN interface so the user can access modem/ONU management (we need this for getting signal levels out of modems when PPPoE is in use)
  • odometers for usage, with programmable rollover periods/dates/anniversaries
  • The ability to disable things! eg: It's better to turn off a customer's LAN interface (via UNMS) when their account is deliquent
  • Turn off the wifi - some customers are still concerned about the quarter of a watt (despite owning microwave ovens...)
  • more mass/high-friction base
  • BIGGER TEXT AND BETTER TYPEFACE ON THE MICROTEXT STICKER - man it's hard to read those passwords, especially in the dark
  • just find my d4mn UNMS server, like UniFi - via DNS/DHCP/RFC1149
  • Allow me to brand the web UI, including help/support/account-info links and text
  • hotspot/guest captive portal (maybe not just for wifi?)
  • DNS resolver: host and domain overrides
  • ease the ability to have a transparent proxy (to address things like parental controls via something like PiHole)
  • ethernet link status in the web UI (so I can ask the customer if their WAN interface shows a happy ethernet connection to modem/ONU)
  • VLAN pass through for IPTV (I know it was mentioned above) and possibly VoIP, so...
  • LLDP MED
  • ARP/NDP table - make this visible in the web UI, beyond just the DHCP leases. I use this so much.
  • router mode... WITHOUT NAT.
  • router mode while NATting (ie: alias a public IP to the LAN interface to allow for routed blocks to other equipment inside.)
  • bijection (aka 1:1) NAT
  • DNSEC?
  • SNMP - graphs are glorious.

Re: Wishes for AirCube's

Just ran through with the beta firmware.

IPTV worked quite well through the WAN to specific LAN port. This is a big relief and enabler.
