Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

I'm trying to monitor an AF5 with PRTG Network Monitor.

I have downloaded MIB file and imported it with the MIB importer tool v3.4.x

Import successful!

Report for C:\Program Files (x86)\Paessler MIB Importer V3\stdmib\UBNT-MIB.txt:
Sucessfully included files: 3 of 3
Sucessfully imported OIDs: 208 of 208
OIDs that were useful for PRTG: 208

I then save it for PRTG Network Monitor

In PRTG Network Monitor I chose "Add sensor" and then "SNMP Library". Then I chose the UBNT.oidlib....

But what should I chose to monitor signal ?

There are tons of options.  Here's some that I monitor.

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

Hi

When you use a OID directly from the converted OIDLIB file, for instance 1.3.6.1.4.1.41112.1.3.1.1.5 for tx frequency, you will get NULL2 in return unless you add a .1 to the OID. This indicates an SNMP read.  Use 1.3.6.1.4.1.41112.1.3.1.1.5.1 in your custom sensor and it should work.

You should be able to use the converted UBNT-MIB using the instructions on page 31 of this doc.

@ClaudeSS This is SO nice! Thank you very much Hurray

I have added sensor "air fiber status: 4/link up time"

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

I do use the uptime on almost all my radios to detect reboot problems, etc. Having it in the current format doesn't bother me. Not sure if it can be changed.

I have AirFiber24 and trying to get PRTG monitor it, but no luck so far. Where can I download the sensor for AirFiber24?

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

There's a file from Ubiquiti you download. Then you convert with a prtg conversion utility. Then it loads as a custom sensor for the AF's

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

I have same problem.....

I wanted to add new AF5 + AF24 to PRTG, It just fails...

I'm already monitoring both AF5+AF24 with it.

Existing device monitoring works fine. When I try to add the new I get same error as @logtech:

Could not create the sensor SNMP Library on device 10.1.1.3 (AirSchool) .

Error connecting device. Check IP,Port,Community!

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

I have not had time to try adding a different AF to monitoring, but all my existing devices work fine.  I know that AF dev team uses PRTG at times to monitor SMNP of new gear they are developing.  So they would know of any problems before we do.

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

All my AF working fine in PRTG.

Remember that ssh and webinterface password can be different! PRTG needs the 8 digits ssh password.

Good luck.

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

It needs to be SNMP V1 not V2 or V3; AirFiber24 does support only V1

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

Okay, so I am having troubles monitoring any AF24 SNMP OID in PRTG as well. I am using v1 and have SNMP enabled on the airFiber(24). I am adding a Custom SNMP Sensor and using the OID from the MIB file in the v4.0 firmware download. (I convertend the MIB using Paessler MIB Importer.)

  • I have the OID
  • AF is setup in PRTG to use SNMP v1
  • SNMP Agent "Enabled" on AF
  • SNMP Community name same on AF as in PRTG

What am I missing? Any help/advice is much appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

SNMP Agent is enabled and I've left the SNMP Community as "public".

Using the airFiber24 WebUI, I don't see where I can change the SNMP port. The default port in PRTG is set at 161.

Re: Paessler PRTG Network Monitor + AF5

Also, PRTG is working with SNMP fine as I have successfully setup many other devices with SNMP in PRTG, including Cisco, Mikrotik, and Proxim radios and more. I just cannot get any OID that I've tried to work with the AF24 through PRTG yet.
