Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

I've seen this on various versions of firmware. Normally rebooting the AP after the update resolves the issue.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

I had a bunch of DFS hits going to final 8.5.1 and had beta3 on before. Also it seemed that I would change the frequency and it wouldn't take unless I rebooted and this was a Lite.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

I have reported this same issue in the Beta thread, starting wth 8.5.1RC - Getting too many False DFS hits.. only way to counter is to roll back to 8.5.1 Beta3.  Had 5 AP's after upgrade and random times during the day would kick all the clients and lock on to 5.62Ghz and all the clients would drop except the new AC ones and it would generate support.  I had this issue on both Mixed and FF mode.

Here is the stats

Upgraded 15 Ap's

10= FF  (2) Constand DFS Hits

5= Mixed (3) Constant DFS hits

10 Seemed ok, however 5 of 15 having DFS problems let me no choice but to roll back.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

How long did you run the AP on 8.5.1? I'd recommend leaving it running for a while and they should normalise out.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

Okay thanks we can see what any differences between these two are.

@UBNT-Zy have you seen any differences between these versions in your DFS testing?

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

not really, randomly on any DFS frequency,
When they reboot they appear fast then they stop doing it and for some reason they randomly appear new.
But it is not a specific frequency dfs always changes.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

5500-5520, Seem to be the worse in every case... 5515 I get DFS events the worst on multipul APs 100's of miles from each other  after the 8.5.1 upgrade... But I can also verify DFS hits are less intense on 5525-UP.

Hope that helps.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

[ Edited ]

I see that many people claim false hits from dfs with firmware 8.5 and 8.5.1.

I realized that when I restart an antenna with firmware 8.5 or 8.5.1 more dfs appear, and when I start an antenna in the vicinity of the aforementioned mentioned that also has 8.5 or 8.5.1 dfs events appear in these and in which they are in the emission range that have this firmware ..

We are still looking into the differences here. Have you seen any decrease in your number of DFS events?

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

frequency change of radios trigger DFS events in AC2... so you see it on non DFS frequencies too but not in radio WebGUI / device log.
This is a known issue and so the fix didn't made it into AC2.1 final.

Some guys in this topic may have real (but false ) DFS hits.. but like i said... real ones are reported in device log too.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

Hello guys,

I just want to confirm that majority of false DFS events (registered on AC2) is a reporting issue which unfortunately is not yet resolved. In case you are seeing the increment of "real" DFS (false) positive detections which are registered in device's log files, please send the support files directly to my e-mail (z [at] ubnt.com).

Thank you.

Re: 8.5.1 all AP show false DFS

Count us for 3 APs with 8.5.1 with DFS dropouts and RADAR detected where 8.4.2 had none.

We have already downgraded the APs and Stations.

These were PTP links on PowerBeam AC 500 ISO in reasonably clean spectrum environments.

We haven't seen the issue on Rocket 5AC links.

Also, not sure how it changes the channel to the noisiest one and drops capacity by 90%.

"Also, not sure how it changes the channel to the noisiest one and drops capacity by 90%. "

Doah!!! Wow! But you know, come to think of it, that is why I went looking in the first place as the link speed got so bad. And yes, it did seem to put itself in the worst freq almost like it thought up was down and down was up. Or maybe it just thought, seeing it was so busy, it must be a cool party and went their to hang out with everyone else. Man Happy
