Rocket vs Bullet and Antennas on Yacht

Hello,

I'm looking for a yacht solution to provide interent to the yacht from the marina or local wifi.

The yacht already has a router and wifi onboard.

The yacht currently has 2 COMROD AV55P4 8dBi WLAN antennas on the mast.

Can I use the Rocket M2 or the Rocket "AC version" with the existing COMROD antennas?

Or would the Bullet M2 work with 1 of the existing antennas?  I'd prefer to use MIMO since we have 2 antennas.

If the COMROD is incorrect, which antenna would be a good choice.  The mast antenna base is about 25 feet above the water.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Rocket vs Bullet and Antennas on Yacht

Rocket M2 paired with both antennas.

You cannot use the UBNT AC radio, they only work with other UBNT AC radios.

Are you supplying the internet with an antenna from the Maina?

The Rocket or Bullet along with its antenna will supply internet to the yacht.

If you plan on suppling the yacht with an IP, I would stay with the same type radio on the yacht. Someone else may chime in with a better idea but that is what I would do.

I'm interested in knowing how that antenna works out and which radio you decide to go with, also.

So I can use the Rocket with the existing COMROD antennas?

Yes, based on the spec sheet you provided.

You will probably need some adapter cables.

The rocket has rp-sma connectors, fyi.

If you google a bit, you should easily find someone who has what you need.

Re: Rocket vs Bullet and Antennas on Yacht

I'll go with the Rocket M2 connected to the 2 COMROD antennas.

The Rocket M2 has RP-SMA connectors and the COMROD has N.

I'll get a cable that fits since the Rocket will be in the mast 4 feet from the antennas.

Thanks for the helpIcon Biggrin

Why 2 comrod antennas? Different frequency or Port/Starboard?

We are using 2 antennas for MIMO.
