Werhouse Wi-Fi/NVR Survilence

Hi guys.

I was tasked by my friend to design wifi network for Survilence, there will be two or tree cameras per Zone.

Cameras are HikVision or Dahua PoE.

NVR is in his office and they have UTP cable to Metal Pole in picture.

Zone 1, 2 and 3 are on lighting poles and in clear LOS, also in future there will be Zone 4.

Every zone will have electricity from lighting poles.

What gear do you recommend for this task.

With 2-3 cameras / pole, you'd probably be best off with PTP (or PTMP) Airmax setups providing the backhaul.

You'll have to do the math on how much bandwidth you need though.

Re: Werhouse Wi-Fi/NVR Survilence

In NVR place there will be Ubiquiti PoE Switch TS‑8‑PRO and provide PoE to Metal Pole and supplying power to Mikrotik PowerBox Pro.

Gear selection :

Metal Pole

1 x MikroTik PowerBox Pro for PoE distribution to AP and Camera
2 x Ubiquiti NBE‑5AC‑Gen2

Zones 1,2 and 3 :

1 x MikroTik PowerBox Pro for PoE distribution to AP and Camera
1 x Ubiquiti NBE‑5AC‑Gen2
2 or 3 x Dahua PoE camera

What do you think?

not sure the nanobeam has a wide enough pattern to cover locations 2,3,4 (you may need a rocket + 90 degree sector); but other than that one radio, kit sounds spot on.

I wouldn't choose a Toughswitch Pro TS 8 for use with the AC Nanobeams. They are old hat now and have some issues at Gigabit.

On metal pole I'm planing to install 2xNBE-5AC-Gen2 PTP, one PTP for Zone 2 and one PTP for Zone 3, Zone 4 is meant for a camera in the future and not yet planned.

For a lot less expense (and only a single cable), you can use something like a rocket with sector, or a litebeam sector -- the -ac lineup has a fair bit of bandwidth available with single radios ...

And use a PtP for Zone 1

Expanse is not an issue, we want to make it with really good equipment.

About single cable I'm planin one LAN cable from ES-8-150W witch will be located in NVR place, and use that single cable for data and power (PoE) to Mikrotik PowerBox Pro and MikroTik PowerBox Pro will supply power to two NBE-5AC-Gen2 on that metal pole.

Yes, that's what I was planning to do.

If mounting multiple PtP APs from main building don't cluster them altogether, give them good physical separation.

Re: Werhouse Wi-Fi/NVR Survilence

Just a heads up, I've had numerous issues with port flapping with my powerbox some. It might take some tinkering around. You wanna keep your cable run feeding it as short as possible.

Re: Werhouse Wi-Fi/NVR Survilence

Thanks for info but did you use PowerBox or PowerBox Pro, I heard that PowerBox Pro is better in PoE delivery.

Re: Werhouse Wi-Fi/NVR Survilence

I use both, I have more issues with the standard than the Pro. But with the Pro right away I lowered the MTU on port 1 and typed the command to enable the "long cable" for POE and havent had port flapping issues, but that's due to learning the hard way..

Hello @Fireblade

What do you mean with gigabit issues and TS 8 pro's?

Thanks in advance,

Greetings,

Mike
