Re: Aircube POE

As long has it supports 24VDC passive POE output.  If not, you can use the Gigabit InstantPOE adaptor.

Re: Aircube POE

The airCube supports 24VDC POE input and will output 24VDC if POE passthrough is enabled).

Correct, if POE Passthrough is disabled (default), the WAN port will not provide power.

I don't believe this has been added to the mobile app yet, but you should be able to activate POE Passthrough in the HTTPS interface under System -> POE Passthrough.

Re: Aircube POE

I have an airCube-AC fw: 2.4.0 on an EdgeRouter X fw: 1.10.6.

When I power the airCube-AC via the PoE Out port on the EdgeRouter X the airCube-AC will power on, but when I connect to it and run a speed test, the airCube-AC restarts.

Do other PoE devices work ok from this EdgeRouter?

Hello there!

I have the same problem. EdgeRouter X v1.10.5airCube ACB-AC v2.4.0.cb22320.180904.1044 (IP address 192.168.1.100). Connected port "eth4 /PoE out" on EdgeRouter to airCube "24V PoE in" with 4-pair UTP cat5E. airCube is power on but drops connetion (or reboot) if I try to login

Tried to use different patch cord. No result.

ping from PC looks like:

Answer from 192.168.1.100: number of bytes = 32 times <1ms TTL = 64

By the way AirCube works well with Power Adapter. Looks like here are some problems with PoE (on EdgerRouter X?). I have no other PoE devices. I believe aircube should be designed to work well with edgerouter isn't it?

Need help!

Re: Aircube POE

The ER-X is able to power a Unifi AP and works perfectly.

Note:

If I power the ER-X via the AC power supply that came with the unit, I have the problem with the airCube rebooting.

If I power the ER-X via a PoE 24v, the airCube works fine.

Re: Aircube POE

@JasonLampe does the UniFi AP work properly with either of those powering configurations?

Hello guys!

I understand the problem.

airCube AC Max. Power Consumption is 8.5W

ER-X Max. Power Consumption is 5W

Overall power consumption airCube AC + ER-X is about 13W (8.5W + 5W)

ER-X stock power adapter (G0659E-120-050) has output 12V, 0.5A so it can provide only 6W power (12V*0.5A).

If you want to use PoE on airCube AC with ER-X you should buy 2A power adapter (or more powerful).

EdgerRouter X stock power apadter is NOT designed to use PoE on ER-X. It can power only ER-X unit without any other PoE devices.

Re: Aircube POE

I figured as much.  But it's strange that my Unifi AP works perfectly fine.
