Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I was hoping for some help. I have a Nanobeeam AC GEN2 mounted on a pole connected to a premade CAT6 STP cable. From there I will run it into an ETH-SP-G2 and continue on the run with a Cat6 UTP. I have to do this because the destination does not have enough room for a shielded keystone jack. Anyways, is this sufficient for the Cat6 STP to do it's job and the Nanobeam to not be affected? I understand if lightning hits it we're toast, but it's a very low area to begin with.

Hello @tfcitdept,

Welcome to the community!

You posted this in the UniFi section.

@UBNT-JaM  could you please move this to AirMAX?

Re: Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

@tfcitdept

yes correct... ETH-SP is surge protection NOT lightning protection.
UTP cable from ETH-SP is connected to what and where?

basics as mentioned in Userguide:
Proper grounding of 1st ETH-SP via pole or separate ground wire is mandatory.
Also a 2nd protector is suggested where cable enters building with proper grounding of ETH-SP there too.

Re: Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

The ETH-SP is under the elevated buidling (score box for soccer field). The UTP goes directly into the switch, a 8-150W. Should there be something between the UTP and switch?

Re: Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

So you have a shielded run from the radio to the ETH-SP, then UTP from the ETH-SP to the switch? Are you using one ETH-SP or two?

Re: Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

It goes nanobeam, STP, ETH-SP, UTP, switch. Sorry, should of been clearer.

Re: Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

How long is the cable run? I typically recommend using two ETH-SP units as per our installation instructions.

Re: Grounding Nanobeam with ETH-SP

The STP is 100ft premade and the UTP will probably only be around 10ft.
