M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

Has anyone seen this? End devices switches etc. stop responding to pings. The M5 Rocket Client's WAN is up and I can login to console of radio remotely the LAN is showing 100Mb connected to switch but no traffic passing thru power brick. Once a reboot of M5 by software or power cycle brick the traffic starts again and may stay that way for weeks. I have not turned on the No Ping Reboot yet I was wanting to find bug before I tried that. M5 on 5.6.6.29183XW

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

Do you lose the ethernet link at all?

Have you already tried replacing the ethernet and POE?

What is this unit connected to via ethernet?

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

I have 100mbit LAN connected but I'm unable to ping nothing on lan side, I just replaced toughswitch 5 port with edgeswitch 8-150W for try to resolve but I think is CPU related, I use the rocket M5 as router but with 50-60mbit of traffic I see CPU 100% load, tonight I try to remove extra info check ad I read in some other posts and see what happen

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

nothing to do ... another round of reboot, when CPU go UP traffic stop to pass, I remove "extra reporting" as stated in another post but nothing change, no error in dmesg or syslog, simply stop do do router ...

It's possibile that on RocketM5 XM cannot make as router if there are more than 50-60Mbit ? no strange iptables rule only some NAT ...

some idea ?

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

I have another RocketM5 that make the same work, router with some NAT, but the WAN il ath0, with fw XM.6.0.cs and with the same traffic the cpu load is low, did you think that downgrade from 6.1.3 can solve the issue ?

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

I would load an older version of firmware of version v6.0.7 or later from our website. Recent firmware will prevent the loading of unsigned firmware so you will need to get the versions from our website.

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

really sorry, I already have the link for CS firmare but don't see spoiler Man Sad

I found another things that can explain the issue ... I have traffic shaping enabled on eth0 with command

      htb clear $WAN
      htb add -t egress -d $WAN -r $_UP
      htb add -t ingress -d $WAN -r $_DOWN

where $WAN is eth0 and $_UP and $_DOWN is 102400 ... I this is useless because the link is unable to make this troughtput, in router mode ...
by the way I remove this command and now is about 3 day that the link don't reboot ... with old version I never see CPU so hight and random reboot ...

it's possible that one rocketM5 in router mode cannot manage more thant 50-60mbit ? I know is old ... with RocketAC Lite (or gen2) can do better ? or simply is better to let the radio do bridge mode and place one edpoint R6 o ER-Lite as router ?

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

Please use the UI for configuring traffic shaping.

Could you share your current shaping config?  Remember that we suggest shaping in the egress direction.

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

I have one simple script in CPE that every minute send traffic used by the customer and if this is over his quota I slow it down for a while ...

it's really simple but preserve me to do heavy traffic shaping on router where I have big load ...

In this case the script is not usefull at all, it's one "copy&paste" error ... but I never see trouble in older version, is one old link.

The traffic shaping start to be a big issue for me, I have 2 fiber connection 300/300Mbit and for "squeze" more mbit I have on switch facing the fiber and one or more router (edgerouter lite or edgepoint, in some case rocket) that make NAT ...

I know is not a good solution but I'm scared about one big router that make all things ...

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

after 4 days of no reboot ... 3 reboot in a row, I downgraded to XW.6.0.7.cs ... I hope this solve my issue, in router mode no more than 50mbit

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

@UBNT-SNK Is there a way I can be notified when a fix for this is released? The beta firmware has not helped our issue. We have 420 radio's on our network, so this is an impactful issue. Thanks for any help you can provide!

@gotem86 I'll try to get this thread updated when a fix is released for this so you'll be notified by email. But in case I forget please take a look at the release notes we come out with for the new releases.

Re: M5 LAN not passing traffic even though WAN is up

@UBNT-SNK Sorry to bump an older thread, but this was the first one that has exactly the same issue.

We have numerous NSM5 (easily 20+ units) expeirencing this same issue (CPU pinned at 100% and stops passing LAN traffic). Have been going crazy here replacing PoE injectors, inline PoE adapters, replacing lines, and trying new switches.

Has this been resolved in firmware 6.1.6?
