Hi there. We have set up 2 M5 Nanostation units to transmit broadband from 1 dwelling to another approx. 1.5km away and area between has a tidal flow. Upload speed is 30MB/s showing little drop off compared to source but download speed is showing a considerable drop at 10 to 40MB/s when compared to source of round 100. Speed test due with generic online app. Speed test on ubiquiti app shows 125-150MB/s potential. Hope this makes sense as I am not an expert by any means!!

the signal difference between H/V chain is to big. possible alignment issue.
can't see anything else of an issue.
speed test is better done between two laptops located on each side of the wireless link. suggest use iperf,

Thanks for your feedback. Am I correct is saying all setting seem ok and alignment appears to be only issue causing drop in speed?
Horizontal/ Vertical is -63/ -72 dBm approx. What would be a good target setting to try and achieve by adjusting alignment? Also any tips on best alignment steps most welcome for a newbie!

This should set you on the right path and help narrow down potential problems after adjusting alignment. The optimal target signal is a balanced -50db.

Thanks for feedback. We adjusted rotational position of one of the m5 units but could not get any improvement in signal closer to the -50 target. One m5 is approx 6m above sea level the other 16m. Do we need to also look at adjusting angle on these units to improve signal? Difficult to see how this can be done. Finally- anyone know why upload would be so good and consistent while download is not so?
We are getting between 20 to 40 mbps while sourse fibre is 100 to 140.

Just another point that there are a few trees a few metres below the line of sight between the two m5 units. I wonder is this causing an issue? Is an m5 unit the most suitable or would a unit with a tighter signal direction be better? Thanks again.
