PBE M2 400 antenna alignment

I want to establish a PTP connection between two houses using two PBE M2 400. Direct distance is ~230m direct line no obstacles. Is there a recommended method to align the two antennas to each other or is it not so critical. Am I right to set the TX radio to station (network) and AP (wireless) and the RX radio to station (network) and bridge (wireless).

Any recons or hints are most welcome.

Have a nice and healthy new year.

Regards

Klaus

Re: PBE M2 400 antenna alignment

It's not too critical, but you can spend some time 'peaking' the signal once you get a connection.

Point them at each other; you'll probably get a connection straight away. Turn down power on both ends to get around -45 to -50 dBm received signal.

AP-WDS mode on one radio, Station-WDS mode on the other. Don't leave Frequency on Auto; pick the quietest spectrum (AirView is a good tool to check noise background).
Set a Frequency! Don't leave it on Auto!
Disable Uplink Connectivity Monitor
Always set-inform a Second time after Adopting

Re: PBE M2 400 antenna alignment

You'll want the network modes to be Bridge for both devices, probably, and with WDS on as pointed out above.

Re: PBE M2 400 antenna alignment

I just got the information from the seller that the PBE M2 400 is no longer available from Ubiquiti. I then tried another seller and he could ship it. Can anybody explain whats true and whats not.

Thanks and regards

Re: PBE M2 400 antenna alignment

Hi again,

having been waiting for the PBE M2 400 for 4 weeks I went to another company and got the product within 24 hrs. It is now installed and works perfect. The installation was pretty simple. I now would like to do some futher setup. How can I set a MAC filter to protect the access. What was meant with the setting not to set the frequency to auto.

Thanks a lot for the great help. Its a great product and I am happy with it. I see the problem as being solved. Even I have to do some minor things.

Re: PBE M2 400 antenna alignment

Auto frequency channel selection is discouraged because you should be manually planning your spectrum usage in order to ensure there are no overlaps with other signals in the area, whether yours or other broadcasts.

There is a MAC ACL option in the wireless tab of the AP.
