Unifi Mesh or airmax?

[ Edited ]

Hi.

I have been asked to setup a wifi network on a farm where there are 4 houses, as shown on the picture below. All the fours houses are kind of in a circle, have have clear view to each other. The main internet access is in house 1 which is marked on the satelite picture below. The distance between the houses are maximum of 30 meters / 90 feet.

My question is; to mesh between the houses, is it good enough to use Unifi mesh ap? Put one on the outside wall of all 4 houses, and the one in house 1 with cabled access? To get good coverage inside the houses i thought i would run a cable from each of the three mesh aps in to the house, and connect to a normal ap lite. (all the hosues are pretty small).

Do you think this is sufficient, or should i use some sort of airmax?

Thanks

Re: Unifi Mesh or airmax?

Hello @nordbo,

This is an AirMAX job, wouldn't use wireless uplinks for this....

@UBNT-JaM  could you move this to AirMAX?

Thanks for the reply.

Could you elaborate on why? From the diagrams ive seen, it should work just fine?

Re: Unifi Mesh or airmax?

Hello @nordbo,

Wireless uplink/UAPs are not designed for PtP/PtMP installs.

Re: Unifi Mesh or airmax?

You would bridge the buildings with airMax, and design a mesh network with UniFi APs.

Re: Unifi Mesh or airmax?

Ok, so nanostation loco ac looks to be a good choice for the "clients", but hwat should i use for the "main" device in this Point-to-Multi-Point setup? is litebeam a good option?

Re: Unifi Mesh or airmax?

Depends on your lines of sight and where you mount the AP. You may want a LiteAP. Litebeams have narrow beams.
