Description

GPS Sync is amazing! Throughput doubled. We had a whole bunch of rocket M5s up there and all was good for a few years, but as the customer count went up and the spectrum got more clogged the site was suffering. We put up one gen2 to test and it helped a little. Once the GPS sync feature on mixed mode came through the pipe we decided to upgrade them all and synce them. We saved on spectrum and got a HUGE boost on throughput. We are currently going through our network site by site and swapping every ap we have over to gen2. Each site keeps getting better and better.  #freeshirtIMG_9422.jpg

This is AWESOME!  Our network capacity increased substantially with GPS sync also.  Are you using ReSE and Wireless Network Protection on your APs?

What frame size(s) and DL/UL ratios are you using?

WisTech, We are using ReSE and Protection. Currently we have a few on 5ms 67/33 and 8ms 67/33 to see which performs better. Liking the 8ms 67/33 a little more though. We did roll back a few aps back to 8.5.0 because of DFS hits, so those arent running ReSE and Protection. Hoping that gets resolved with some new FW.

Are the APs on this site synced with each other or with a different site? In the first case, what APs share the same frequencies? We've been experimenting with GPS sync but as a lot of our tower setups do not match the GPS sync guide (CPEs can see multiple APs at the same time) we're still running flexible frame mode.

@FezzFestWe have a few of the APs synced with eachother. But we arent using the freq resuse fully. We ended up taking two of the APs off GPS sync because we were having a lot of false DFS hits, and taking off the GPS synce resolved it. On another site that we have GPS Sync enabled, and matches the sync guide, we were able to get some freq re-use. but they were facing 180 away from each other. In the above picture we did have the outside two left and right APs synced and had the freqs set at 40mhz and were overlapping by about 20mhz with pretty clean results. We did end up moving them to different channels when we were having the DFS hit problem with other APs on the site and havent moved them back. We dont want to shoot ourselves in the foot yet.

What are those shelves you have the blue CAT cable running through?
