Current sensor for common electrical device

Hi,
I have a question, in the quick start guide of the current sensor, it's written that we must insert only one wire (either hot or neutral) in the current sensor. Does that mean that I can't simply insert the sensor on a regular power cable for example my laptop one ?
Thx

You could use the mPower to monitor it.
