Fundamental questions

Once I set up say, an mPort and a mPower unit. Do I need to keep the control system running in order for info from the mPort to turn a port on/off on the mPower?
Got a customer that wants a panic button set up that will turn on a buzzer/light in another building. Want to use the mPort with a switch connected to the digital input. Then when the button is pushed, it needs to turn power on in the other building for a few seconds.
I'm worried about the control software need to run for this to happen. Especially since it does not run on a server.

Re: Fundamental questions

Needs the controller software running.
Not sure what you mean by "since it does not run on a server"

Re: Fundamental questions

I mean a Windows server. Windows Server 200x is not a supported OS in the documentation.

Re: Fundamental questions

Any idea how fast the system responds to a button press? If I were to put a momentary press button, how long would the button need to be pressed in order to be detected?
