Mailbox sound and driveway motion sensor

I have a client who needs to be alerted with a sound when his mailbox door is opened and when a car approches his driveway. The entrance to the home is about a half mile from his house. He already has an existing airmax nanobeam PTP at the location for unifi video. He would like to be alerted with a sound when someone opens his mailbox door and when someone drives into the driveway. I have a few Raspberry pi's laying around if that will help with the scenario.

Re: Mailbox sound and driveway motion sensor

When you say, 'at the location', I assume you mean at

the entrance--not in the house.

Why not simply use the UniFi camera audio for this? It's

'free', and both ends are accessible. If it's only ambient

audio, you could simply use an external mic. Or, for

other signals, use the mic audio channel to provide

signal tones. For that of course, you would need to

disassemble the camera.

At the other end, the UnIFi Video app can monitor audio.   Dave

Yes. At the gate location there is a Unifi G3 linked to the house via Nanonbeam. I know there are all kinds of off the shelf motion alert systems out there but they do not work so far away. The client has a thought in his head of when the mailbox opens a speaker in the house says "youve got mail" and when someone is pulling into the driveway a sound that says "driveway".

It's up to you to create a simple circuit to add audio tones

based on motion or on opening the mailbox.   DAve
